“More Bazaars In the Offing” – Ayorkor Botchwey As She Opens Two-Day First-Ever MoFARI Bazaar
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, in her keynote address welcomed the diplomatic community, Ghanaian and foreign exhibitors, and the general public to the event.
Hon Ayorkor Botchwey, who doubles as Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom indicated the two-day Bazaar Extravaganza is forming a base for a lot more Bazaars, of the ministry.
The minister in her interaction with the press after visiting some stands said, “The fair is among many innovative suites, my ministry has adopted with an aim of showcasing Ghana, while forming a platform for companies and services providers to network with other business persons, and with embassies in the country.”
She added, “This is also among ways the government strategizes in putting Ghana on a spot, showcasing what we have, and indicating we as a country, have enough to keep us beyond aid.”
Themed, “Breaking frontiers in economic diplomacy“, the event has attracted a host of companies and the general public. Among prominent authorities and agencies partnering the MoFARI in the Bazaar includes; Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFSA), Ghana Investment Promotion Centre(GIPC), Federation of Assorted Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE) among others.
Embassies and consulates of Russia, Angola, Turkey, Islamic Republic of Kuwait, UAE, Zambia, Sudan, Zimbabwe and other embassies are highly represented.
Seasoned registered exporters of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) participating in this extravaganza, cuts across handicrafts, garments & textiles, services, manufacturing and the agro-industry.
In consonance with Article 73 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration is the principal organ of state responsible for the administrative and proactive initiation, formulation, coordination and management of Ghana’s Foreign Policy. The Ministry comprises the Headquarters, fifty one (51) Diplomatic Missions, six (6) Consulate-Generals and fifty eight (58) Honorary Consulates.
Among activities marking the Bazaar Extravaganza include: cultural display, visit to stand by the sector minister and invited guests, exhibitions of products and services by participating companies, embassies and agencies, and performances by MUSIGA/Immigration Service Band.
Trade Minister, Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng, who is the special guest of honor for the Bazaar, Amb. Albert F Yankey, Prof Alex Dodoo, are among dignitaries gracing the event.
The Bazaar Extravaganza ends today, Saturday, March 24, 2018.
