County Pension Fund (CPF) Research Tour

A delegation from the County Pension Fund (CPF), Kenya is in Ghana on a research tour visit from the 1st to 4th February 2022 to study good investment practices in the Agribusiness sector specifically Coconut and Oil Palm value chains and also to gain insights in pension management schemes.

The General Managing Director of CPF, Hosea Kili mentioned that the delegation is in Ghana to find best candidates to invest in and to build strategic partnerships with already existing businesses. He said that the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) has provided countries with an advantage to trade amongst themselves while establishing good trade relationships and he is hopeful that this project will open areas for more investment opportunities.

The Chief Executive Officer of GEPA, Dr. Afua Asabea Asare was enthusiastic that the Kenyan Delegation had taken steps to fully maximize export and investment potentials presented by the AfCFTA.Image preview

Also present was the Deputy. Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Samuel Dentu who briefly spoke about the National Export Development Strategy (NEDS) as a good framework for the selected products for the project and how the strategy can benefit from this project. He also urged the delegation to look into other arears of exports.

The delegation will pay field visits to Oil Palm and Coconut Farms in the Eastern and Western Regions and meet with major stakeholders in the product value chain as well as executives of the Social Security National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

GEPA in 2019 undertook a revitalization project for the Coconut sector and partnered with the Africa Coconut Group to host the maiden edition of the 1st International Coconut Festival making Ghana a perfect fit for this project.

The delegation had representatives from the County Pension Fund and National Bank of Kenya.

CPF is a contributory retirement benefit scheme for County employees where both the employer and employee contribute for the benefit of the employee.
