Export School: GEPA trains 100 micro & small-scale master craft garment producers in Takoradi

One hundred micro and small-scale master craft garment producers have been awarded certificates after undergoing training in export marketing organised by the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) in the Western Region of Ghana from 12 to 14 June 2023.

‘Export Marketing Fundamentals’ is a short certificate course designed by the GEPA Export School to train potential and existing exporters, as well as personnel of export-facilitating institutions, to upgrade their skills in export. The project is a component of the Ghana Skills Development Fund’s (GSDF) Dress Up College of Fashion Counterpart Funding Project.

The objective of the training is to build the capacity of exporters at various stages to enable them to compete favourably across the globe.

The trainees, who are members of the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA) and Ghana National Association of Garment Makers (GNAGM) were selected from communities such as Elubo, Half Assini, Esiamah, Tarkwa, Daboase, Shama, Komenda, Kojokrom, Kwesimintsim and Takoradi.

The GEPA Export School was founded by the Ghanaian government in 1987 to help Ghanaian exporters develop the necessary managerial, technical, and exporting skills as well as trade capacity to increase their ability to compete internationally.
