GEPA CEO Dr. Afua Asabea Asare leads Ghana to 2023 Qatar Horticultural Expo

The CEO of Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Dr. Afua Asabea Asare, will head Ghana’s delegation to the International Horticultural Expo scheduled to take place from October 2, 2023, to March 28, 2024, in Qatar’s capital city, Doha.

Expo 2023 Doha will be a significant step for Ghana to showcase its investment opportunities, innovative capabilities, and commitment to global cooperation and development.

At the official launch held at the Africa Trade House in Accra, Dr. Afua Asabea Asare addressed the media, exuding confidence in Ghana’s ability to leverage the global event to enhance its presence in the Gulf Region with a focus on horticultural products. She said Ghana’s participation would attract critical investments geared towards boosting exports.

As Commisioner-General, Dr. Asabea Asare revealed that the National Planning Committee had chosen the motto ‘Grow in Ghana, Export from Ghana’ to encapsulate the essence of the nation’s diverse horticultural products on the international stage.

The motto not only underscores Ghana’s commitment to nurturing its horticultural sector but also emphasises its ambition to become a prominent player in the global market.

Dr. Asabea Asare extended an invitation to both private sector organisations and public institutions, urging them to seize the opportunity to participate actively in the Expo. Their involvement is expected to provide Ghana with an influential presence throughout the six-month-long event in Qatar.

Expo 2023 Doha, bearing the theme “Green Desert, Better Environment,” is poised to attract about three million visitors, offering a unique platform for networking and partnerships.

Participants who visit the Ghana Pavilion will have an engaging experience centred around three key thematic areas: Modern Agriculture, Technology and Innovation, and Sustainability. These thematic showcases will not only underscore Ghana’s capabilities but also highlight its commitment to advancing horticulture with a focus on sustainability and innovation.

GEPA takes the helm in overseeing coordination efforts, with the involvement of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), COCOBOD, Forestry Commission, Ghana Exim Bank, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), among others, working in collaboration.

Expo 2023 Doha represents an important platform for Ghana to assert itself on the global stage, foster economic growth, and forge meaningful partnerships.
