GEPA signs MOU with GSBF

The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) in pursuit of strategic alliances with both local and international bodies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ghana Sicily Business Forum (GSBF).

The event, which took place on June 5, 2018, seeks among other considerations to collaborate on key strategic areas. The deputy CEO of GEPA, Eric Amoako Twum, represented the Authority and Ekke Reitsema signed on behalf of GSBF.

The MOU inter alia stipulates that GSBF will provide an array of services to GEPA in support of the Authority’s activities, providing information and advice service for Ghanaian entrepreneurs who want to sell their products in Italy and in other European countries.

GSBF will equally identify expert consultants in order to provide general and/or specific advice relating to European market and promote the research on the product quality and the innovation, giving information, expertise and specific training courses.

Furthermore, GSBF will support GEPA in promoting the knowledge and the spread of Ghana traditional and non-traditional products in Italy and in other European Countries; as well as support GEPA in organizing and promoting the realization and the spread of special travel packages aimed at the economic and touristic expansion of Ghana.

The MOU also touched on GSBF’s support GEPA to increase fruit processing before export by linking Ghanaian businesses with Italian producers of high quality machinery with outstanding post sales service, expertise and investment partners to add value to raw materials before exporting.

One key area of interest was the support to GEPA to assist producers and exporters in the area of standards and certifications. This is so crucial giving the importance of the European market to NTE exports.

Other thematic areas of collaboration include information sharing, identification of distributors, importers, new suppliers, packaging and labeling.

GSBF is a multi-stakeholder organisation based in Sicily (Italy) formed by corporations, companies, professionals and other persons, which is open to technical stakeholders, undertakings, as well as social partners’ representative organizations, workers and professionals.
