Ghana Celebrates its National Day at Dubai Expo 2020

Ghana has taken its turn at the Stage of Nations at the Dubai Expo to celebrate its National Day with a culturally colourful flag raising ceremony.

Highlight of the event was the presence of H.E. the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and H.E Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner General of Dubai Expo 2020.

Both President Nana Akufo-Addo and Sheikh Mubarak Al Nahyan paid glowing tributes to each other’s countries and encouraged efforts at engaging deeper economic ties between both countries.

Nana Asaase and his Juta ensemble served the large crowd a taste of Ghana with an inspiring spoken word delivery and invigorating dance performances representing the various Ghanaian tribes.

Other events which formed part of the Ghana Day celebrations included a series of Business Fora organized by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) in collaboration with key stakeholders under the theme, “Ghana: Limitless Opportunities”.

These sessions provided an opportunity to showcase via dialogue,  the numerous opportunities in Ghana for potential investors in the areas of Manufacturing, Tourism, Exports, Energy, Housing, Health & Sanitation.

Speaker after speaker reiterated Ghana’s readiness for business and encouraged investors to venture into Ghana for mutually valuable returns on their business in a variety of sectors. Panelists also reiterated how Ghana is strategically positioned to deepen working relations with economies such as the UAE.Image preview

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Dr. Afua Asabea Asare, taking her turn on the panel shared the ease of doing business with agencies such as GEPA who have a number of collaborative initiatives to facilitate the business of Exports – the GEPA Impact Hub being one of such. She encouraged investors to take a particular interest in Exports and value addition sectors where returns are guaranteed.

The business forum was organized by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre in partnership with the United Arab Emirates Trade Centre, Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Ghana Tourism Authority, Ghana Free Zones Authority, Ghana Export and Import Bank, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation and Ghana Gas Company Ltd.

The Dubai Expo 2020 is a world Expo, currently hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from October 1, 2021, to March 31 2022. The Expo which has approximately 190 countries participating has given Ghana an opportunity share its investment and cultural story with the rest of the world
