Ghana Fairs: GEPA, AfCFTA-NCO meet Ghanaian business reps on maiden Kenya expedition

In a bid to promote trade between Ghana and other countries under the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA), ‘Ghana Fairs’ was instituted by the National Coordinating Office (NCO) of AfCTA in Ghana as a market-entry strategy intended to position the country as a major trading partner.

On Tuesday, April 18, 2023, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and National AfCFTA Coordination Office (NCO), held a meeting with Ghanaian business representatives to discuss the first-ever Ghana Fairs expedition to Kenya scheduled to take place this year, from May 22 to May 26.

The fairs are a culmination of strategic enterprise support activities started in 2020 under the NCO’s flagship Market Expansion Project, which was instituted to facilitate the provision of support to businesses seeking entry and expansion within the AfCFTA market.

The Ghana Fairs consist of a series of exhibitions and B2B trade events that will be held in selected markets across East, West, North, and Central Africa.

The maiden edition is scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, followed by another in Cairo, Egypt. Subsequent fairs will be held in other cities in West and Central Africa.
