Ghana gets ready for EXPO 2020 Dubai

Hon. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, Member of Parliament for Tema West and Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry launched Expo 2020 Dubai, the first World Expo which is organized every five years to take place in the Middle East at an event at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel recently. Expo 2020 Dubai which is scheduled from 20th October, 2020 to 10th April, 2021 under the major theme ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future: Opportunity, Mobility, Sustainability’ will host over 150 participating countries and over 25 million visitors.

Present at the function in support were Ms. Afua Asabea Asare, CEO of Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Nana Oduro Owusu, Deputy CEO COCOBOD, and Dr. PokuAdusei, Deputy Director General, Ghana Standards Authority.

In his statement to officially launch the Expo, Hon. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah congratulated the National Planning Committee inaugurated on 4th July, 2018constituting representatives from various institutions for the hard work. Hon. Ahenkorah said that Ghana’s participation under the theme ‘Ghana, Limitless Opportunities’will give the country the opportunity to attract investors and establish and strengthen existing ties between Dubai and other countries.Further on, he noted that the organisers have added on other services such as an online marketplace for contacts, investment matchmaking, Business Concierge Services as well as committed a total amount of USD$100 million to support social enterprises to participate all in a bid to ensure that exhibitors make the most out of their participation by way of firmed up business deals and partnerships.

The Deputy Minister who has been appointed the Commissioner General for the Expo has encouraged Ghanaian companies to take advantage of the opportunity by registering to participate as the country will be under one pavilion which will be over 200 square meters.
