Ghanaian Artisans Showcase Made-in-Ghana Craftsmanship at SIAB 2026 in Côte d’Ivoire
More than 40 Ghanaian artisans showcased the creativity, craftsmanship and cultural richness of Ghana at the Semaine Internationale de l’Artisanat (SIAB) 2026 in Grand-Bassam, Côte d’Ivoire, as the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) supported their participation in one of the region’s important platforms for promoting African craftsmanship.
The Ghana Pavilion attracted strong interest from buyers, distributors, investors and visitors who engaged with exhibitors and explored the wide range of products on display. The participation provided Ghanaian artisans with an opportunity to present their products to a broader West African market while identifying new commercial opportunities.
From intricately crafted artefacts and textiles to contemporary lifestyle products, the exhibitors demonstrated the depth and versatility of Ghana’s creative and artisan industries. Their products reflected a blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern design, highlighting Ghanaian artisans’ ability to respond to changing market tastes while preserving the cultural identity embedded in their work.
Ghana Pavilion Draws Buyers and Industry Players
Throughout the exhibition, Ghanaian exhibitors engaged prospective buyers, distributors and other industry professionals interested in sourcing authentic African products.
These engagements created opportunities for the artisans to introduce their brands to new customers, explore potential distribution arrangements and establish business relationships that could support their entry into regional markets.
The exhibition also provided the artisans with valuable exposure to consumer preferences and market trends within Côte d’Ivoire and the wider West African market. Such interactions are important in helping businesses understand what international buyers are looking for and how Ghanaian products can be positioned more effectively for export.
High Commissioner Visits Ghana Pavilion
Ghana’s participation received further diplomatic support with a visit to the Ghana Pavilion by the High Commissioner of Ghana to Côte d’Ivoire, H.E. Brigadier General Alhassan Abu (Rtd).
The High Commissioner toured the pavilion and interacted with the participating exhibitors, gaining firsthand insight into the products being presented and the opportunities available to Ghanaian businesses through regional trade exhibitions.
His engagement with the artisans underscored the importance of collaboration between Ghana’s trade and diplomatic missions in supporting businesses to access international markets and strengthening the economic relationship between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.
Regional Markets Offer New Opportunities
For the more than 40 Ghanaian artisans who participated in SIAB 2026, the exhibition represented more than an opportunity to display their products. It provided a practical platform to connect directly with the market, build commercial relationships and explore opportunities for expanding their businesses beyond Ghana.
The participation also highlighted the growing potential of Ghana’s creative industries to contribute to export growth, particularly within the West African market where geographical proximity and regional trade frameworks can provide opportunities for businesses to scale.
Through its support for Ghanaian participation in international and regional trade exhibitions, GEPA continues to facilitate market access and create platforms for exporters and producers to connect with buyers and business partners.
As SIAB 2026 concluded, the engagements generated at the Ghana Pavilion offered participating artisans new leads, market insights and potential partnerships, reinforcing the role of regional trade exhibitions in opening doors for Ghanaian businesses.
For the exhibitors, the experience in Grand-Bassam was a further demonstration that Made-in-Ghana products have a place in regional and international markets, and that Ghana’s rich tradition of craftsmanship can be transformed into sustainable commercial opportunities.
