Ghanaian Exporters Expand U.S. Market Prospects Through NY NOW Participation

Ghanaian exporters gained valuable exposure to the U.S. market through their participation in NY NOW in New York, where they showcased a selection of Made-in-Ghana gift, lifestyle, home and design products to international buyers and industry professionals.

The participation brought Ghanaian brands into direct contact with players across the U.S. retail and design markets, creating opportunities for exporters to present their products, establish business relationships, and assess the potential to expand their presence in the United States.

The exhibition provided a valuable meeting point between Ghanaian businesses and an international audience interested in distinctive products for the home, lifestyle and gifting sectors. Through engagements with buyers and industry stakeholders, the exporters were able to introduce their brands, discuss their product offerings and explore potential areas for collaboration.

Building Connections Beyond the Exhibition

For the participating businesses, one of the key benefits of NY NOW was the opportunity to engage directly with prospective buyers rather than relying solely on conventional market channels.

The conversations held during the exhibition gave exporters an opportunity to understand the expectations of the U.S. market and receive feedback on their products. They also gained insights into emerging trends within the gift, home and lifestyle sectors, which could inform their approach to product development and market positioning.

The exposure provided by the exhibition further allowed the exporters to tell the stories behind their brands and highlight the creativity and value embedded in products made in Ghana.

GEPA Supports Exporters in New York

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) in charge of Administration and Operations, Mr. Ambrose Edwin Nsarkoh, joined the Ghanaian exhibitors during the exhibition and engaged with them as they connected with buyers and industry stakeholders.

His engagement provided an opportunity to gain firsthand perspectives from the exporters on their experiences, the business opportunities identified and the prospects for taking their products further into the U.S. market.

GEPA’s involvement also underscored the Authority’s role in supporting Ghanaian businesses to navigate international markets and connect with opportunities that can contribute to increased exports.

Creating Pathways for Made-in-Ghana Products

While the exhibition itself has concluded, the value of the participation extends beyond the event. The contacts made, buyer conversations initiated and market knowledge gained provide participating exporters with a foundation for pursuing potential business opportunities in the U.S.

For the Ghanaian brands, NY NOW was therefore not simply a platform to display products. It was an opportunity to open conversations that could lead to new customers, partnerships and market access.

The participation also highlighted the growing range of Ghanaian products capable of competing in international markets and the potential of the gift, lifestyle, home and design sectors to contribute to the country’s export growth.

Through strategic participation in international trade exhibitions, GEPA continues to create opportunities for Ghanaian exporters to take their products to new markets, build commercial relationships and strengthen the global presence of Made-in-Ghana.
