MANSA: The Repository Platform Exporters Need to grow their Business across Africa

The African Export-Import Bank (Afrexim bank) has taken the lead in creating a Pan-African customer payment platform known as MANSA that caters to the needs of SMES, financial institutions and corporate entities. The platform was introduced at the ongoing Ghana Trade Roadshow taking place at the Marriott Hotel, Airport City, Accra.

MANSA is a single source of the primary data required for performing Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Know Your Customer (KYC) checks on SMEs, African financial institutions and corporate entities in accordance with best practices. The platform will provide solutions to address:

  • trade-related challenges in Africa
  • the lack of market information
  • the high cost of doing business in Africa

The platform is open to a wide range of entities including limited liability companies, partnerships, trusts, foundations, regulated entities and listed entities.

Benefits of using the MANSA platform:

  • An opportunity to promote intra-African and external trade
  • It’s expected to stimulate an uptake of new trade avenues and payment systems e.g. mobile money platforms
  • Availability of information on counterparties on the continent means trusted connections for exporters and a reduced perceived risk of trading in Africa

MANSA will be the single primary source for KYC Due Diligence information on African Entities. This will reduce the need for different institutions to collect KYC documentation from the same customer multiple times, creating efficiencies and promoting good governance.

GEPA is collaborating with Afreximbank to on-board eligible Ghanaian companies onto the MANSA platform to enable them take advantage of the enormous opportunities in Africa with the prospects of scaling up their businesses across the continent and beyond.
