Beiersdorf partners with Plan International and CARE

THE WHAT? As part of its global €50 million aid program, Care Beyond Skin, Beiersdorf is devoting additional funding to vulnerable girls and young women. Ten projects across nine countries in Africa and Latin America will obtain support via two long-term partnerships with NGOs Plan International and CARE.

THE DETAILS From February 2021 onwards, the cooperation between Plan International and Beiersdorf first announced last October will be extended to cover Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria, while the launch of the partnership with CARE this year will see the manufacturer of Nivea support projects to improve health services in Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia and Sudan

THE WHY? The pandemic has had a serious impact on equal rights and female empowerment. Stefan De Loecker, Chief Executive Officer of Beiersdorf AG, explains, “Through our global partnerships with Plan International and CARE, we are stepping up our social engagement and setting a long-term focus on girls’ empowerment. Adolescent girls are particularly at risk of being affected by the secondary impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak. We want to create a positive impact for girls and young women in Latin America and Africa and I am confident we will achieve this with these two strong partners at our side. Deriving from our global ‘Care Beyond Skin’ aid program, we now ‘Care Beyond Skin by Empowering Girls’.”
