Chair urges WTO members to “move forward” on development issues
In a dedicated session of the Committee on Trade and Development (CTD) on 22 November, the Chair Ambassador Chad Blackman of Barbados invited WTO members to “find a common understanding on the way forward” for the Monitoring Mechanism, under which members may review special provisions for developing countries. Members also discussed how to ensure the CTD acts as the WTO’s focal point for development, in line with its mandate, at a regular meeting of the committee. They also reviewed three trade agreements between developing countries at a separate dedicated session.
