Dubai Duty Free home delivery racks up US$13 million in sales
THE WHAT? Dubai Duty Free racked up sales of approximately US$13 million via the home delivery service it set up in June, 2020, according to a report published by TR Business.
THE DETAILS The success of the online offer was little compensation, however, for the 65 percent fall in overall sales last year as the pandemic grounded travellers worldwide.
The travel retailer is now hoping to boost sales further while restrictions persist with a push for its click and collect service. The group is predicting sales of US$750 million for 2021, up slightly on 2020 figures but still a far cry from 2019’s US$2.029 billion.
THE WHY? Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free said, in an interview with TR Business, “We are trying to introduce new things and the home delivery service has worked very well for us. We are learning from it and selecting products that people want and for the number of orders coming in.”
