L’Occitane Hong Kong cuts the ribbon on sustainable flagship
THE WHAT? L’Occitane Hong Kong has cut the ribbon on its first Hong Kong concept store. The space centers around a sustainability theme and is designed to encourage shoppers to reduce and recycle.
THE DETAILS The MEGA store boasts a recycling point where customers can drop their beauty empties, a Tree of Wishes where visitors can make a ‘green wish’ and will host pop-up eco-themed workshops – both on and offline – such as soap-making and transforming used bottles into planters.
THE WHY? Asia is a major market for the French natural cosmetics brand and, presumably, it’s hoped that the store’s green slant will tempt the eco-conscious to shop in store not to mention contribute to L’Occitane’s sustainability goals, namely 100 percent of its bottles made from 100 percent recycled plastic and 100 percent of stores offering a recycling service.
