L’Oréal Group bans animal hair brushes
THE WHAT? L’Oréal Group has agreed to ban all animal-hair, including badger- and goat-hair, from its make-up brushes after PETA US presented its Baxter of California unit with a petition signed by some 80,000 members of the public.
THE DETAILS The French beauty giant is among the 100-odd brands to enact such a ban in response to talks with PETA and its international affiliates. Others include Procter & Gamble, Morphe, Cult Beauty and NARS.
THE WHY? “Every badger- or goat-hair brush represents a sensitive animal who endured a violent death,” says PETA Director of Corporate Projects Yvonne Taylor. “PETA is calling on retailers everywhere to follow L’Oréal Group’s compassionate example and embrace animal-free brushes that no one had to suffer and die for.”
