The Estee Lauder Companies announces sustainability goals for travel retail
THE WHAT? The Estee Lauder Companies has announced sustainability goals specific to its Travel Retail unit.
THE DETAILS The duty-free division has identified emissions, waste and energy as key priorities and will aim to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions for transportation to customers by the end of fiscal 2023 as well as for all corporate business air travel.
It will also seek to transition all TR exclusive paper cartons to responsibly sourced FSC-certified board by 2025 and reduce plastic use by removing plastic film-wrap by 2023, avoiding some 54,000kg of plastic waste.
THE WHY? According to a survey conducted by TFWA, more than 70 percent of shoppers claim they would be influenced by sustainability credentials when purchasing an item during their travels. As Olivier Bottrie, ELC Global President, Travel Retail and Retail Development says, “The Estee Lauder Companies and its brands have made great strides to ensure we continue to be a company rooted in values and it is important that we do our part in Travel Retail to uphold this vision.”
