Unilever: there’ll be no bounce back before summer
THE WHAT? Unilever expects global consumption to remain depressed for the first half of 2021, according to a report published by Reuters.
THE DETAILS Despite signs of a recovery in East Asia, Unilever CEO Alan Jope told Reuters, “We still hold that the first half of this year will be a continued period of suppressed consumption… with that starting to come back in the second half of this year and then next year.”
THE WHY? With new lockdowns in place across much of the globe and the pandemic continuing to spread, consumption will continue to be affected until restrictions are lifted. With vaccine roll-out continuing apace, many are optimistic about the second half of 2021.
