Unilever to sell off non-core beauty brands?

THE WHAT? Unilever is rumored to be mulling the sale of a portfolio of its non-core beauty brands, according to a report published by Bloomberg, quoting a source familiar with the matter.

THE DETAILS The UK-based FMCG manufacturer is said to have drafted in Credit Suisse to explore a potential disposal, although no final decision has been taken. Both companies declined to comment when approached by Bloomberg.

THE WHY? Unilever has been weeding out the weak spots from its portfolio in recent years, starting with its spreads division and shortly to be continued with the sale of its tea unit. The re-assessment of its beauty portfolio is the next logical step.
