We won’t donate to those who disrespect democracy: P&G revisits political contributions
THE WHAT? Procter & Gamble will withdraw its financial support from any elected officials who have questioned the result of the 2020 presidential election, according to a report published by the Cincinnati Business Courier.
THE DETAILS The manufacturer of Pampers and Gillette’s political action committee and its individual employees donated more than US$700,000 to congressional candidates in the last US election.
THE WHY? A spokesperson for the US FMCG giant told the Cincinnati Business Courier in a statement, “Free and fair elections are the foundation of our democracy and must be protected and respected. We will take into account any failure to do so when determining future support. Our previous decisions on contributions do not dictate choices going forward.”
