Shea/Karite Oil – Potential Market Report 2019
Over the last four years Ghana has scaled up its processing and exportation of shea butter and its derivatives. This has been made possible by active participation of new companies in the shea ecosystem as well as support extended by organizations such as the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), the Global Shea Alliance, amongst others.
Ghana’s exports grew in value by 30% in value between 2017 and 2018, with Malaysia emerging as the dominant importer of Ghana’s shea butter since 2016, having overtaken the Netherlands as the major importer.
Apart from the major importers like Malaysia, the Netherlands, Denmark etc, there are other emerging markets with attractive growth rates and potentials for Ghana to explore.
