Yams in the United States – Competitor Analysis 2018

Ghana was the largest exporter of yam in the world in 2017 with a total market share of 20.4%. In 2017, Ghana exported a total of US$33,067,000. The major global competitor countries for Ghana are Jamaica, Japan, the USA and China. While Ghana’s annual export growth between 2013-2017 was -2%, Jamaica, its closest competitor’s growth was 7%. However, Ghana out-performed Jamaica in terms of growth in 2017 with 21% and 14% recorded respectively.
