Networking Session with past CEOs of Ghana Export Promotion Authority

Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Ms. Afua Asabea Asare has hosted past Executives of the Authority to a networking lunch as part of celebrations to mark the organization’s 50th anniversary.

Welcoming guests to the event, Madam Asare acknowledged the wealth of knowledge and experience of the past executives, which she described as vital for the progress of the Authority. She reiterated that she would be counting on their support and advice to collectively grow the organisation.

Invited guests included Ambassador Kwesi Ahwoi, Hon. Gideon Quarcoo, Mr. James Tiigah, Mr. Stephen Normeshie, Mr. Tawia Akyea, Mr. Kwaku Adu Mensah, Mr. Eric Amoako Twum and Hon. Kwadwo Owusu Agyeman.

The past Executives individually commended Madam Asare for the ‘bold’ and remarkable initiative of inviting them as a group for the interactive session and encouraged Madam Asare that it was a step in the right direction for the success of GEPA.

They went on to share practical ideas on how to solve pertinent operational lapses in the export business, some of which were perennial problems they had dealt with during their various tenures. The past Executives engaged the Management Team of GEPA to hearty and stimulating discussions touching on packaging for exports, increased collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture to align on policy and achieve a strengthened organisation, standardization of products, documentation and update of records, sustaining supply base to meet international market demand and recommendations for the past executives to form an advocacy group calling for increased government involvement in the export business to grow the sector.

Management of GEPA was extremely appreciative of the nuggets of wisdom they had gleaned from the senior executives and intimated that these sessions will be regularized to make the organisation richer in experience for the good of Ghana’s export sector.
