DDG Zhang encourages Uzbekistan to maintain positive WTO accession momentum

Speaking at the opening session of the first Tashkent International Investment Forum held in Tashkent on 24-26 March, Deputy Director-General Xiangchen Zhang outlined the potential benefits of WTO membership for Uzbekistan, which resumed its WTO accession process in 2020. “WTO members are supportive of the accession process and keen to see progress,” he said. The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, announced at the Forum the country’s ambition to join the WTO in the next few years. DDG Zhang’s full remarks are provided below.
