DG Azevêdo: “WTO reform and development are intrinsically linked”

Speaking at a retreat organised by China on 19 June addressing the theme of development and WTO reform, Director-General Roberto Azevêdo urged members to work together to ease tensions, strengthen mechanisms of cooperation and build confidence in the trading system. The WTO “is critical for development but for the WTO to work well it must be ready to change and improve,” he declared. The text of the DG’s remarks is below:
