Youth in Export Officially Launched

The Ghana Export Promotion Authority in partnership with the Youth Employment Agency has officially launched the Youth in Export Program (YiEP) and the Export Project Competition.

The programme which was launched on Friday 27th September at Jackson Park in Koforidua, aims at helping to address the issue of unemployment in Ghana by encouraging the youth to actively develop products for export.

Sharing details of the Export Project Competition, Director of Projects, Mr. Alex Dadzawa explained that contestants of the competition are expected to propose innovative, feasible, exportable ideas to a panel of judges who will shortlist three winning ideas for implementation; thereby creating employment for themselves and others.

Dignitaries who graced the event include the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Ms. Afua Asabea Asare and her Deputies, Eastern Regional Minister, Executives of the Youth Employment Agency and Sub Chiefs from the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs.

Speaking at the launch, Madam Asare encouraged the youth to take advantage at the golden opportunity, and strive to use YiEP to build businesses and sources of income for themselves and others. She indicated that entrepreneurship was one of the best ways to make the Ghana Beyond Aid mantra a reality.
